YogaKids (Ages 6-10) 6 week series

The YogaKids program isn’t just about teaching kids yoga. These classes will empower your children -- to learn, to cope, and to be healthy and happy. We will explore yoga poses while integrating math, language and reading, ecology, teamwork, communication and much more. YogaKids’ educational and fun lesson plans will have long-lasting benefits for kids both in and out of the yoga studio.

Lessons are geared towards 1st-4th graders and will focus on healthy living, understanding feelings, current and seasonal events. Children will leave class feeling physically and mentally strong and empowered.

Shannon McGuire, CYKT and former Girls on the Run coach (4+ years), began teaching children at our studio in 2018.  In 2008 she suffered a head injury and abruptly ended her career as a CPA with PwC. During her recovery, she began practicing yoga and the benefits immediately changed her life. Shannon has three children and began incorporating yoga in their lives since before they could walk.  

In 2016 her son was diagnosed with epilepsy and Shannon became determined to enrich his life even more with the practice.  Recognizing that all children learn differently, she pursued a 200 hour certification with YogaKids International and immediately began teaching children.  In 2019, she completed our first 200 hour teacher training, JOURNEY HOME.  In August of 2020, she completed a certification with Love Your Brain Foundation, an organization dedicated to delivering yoga to the traumatic brain injury community. She is very excited to continue her training with our 300-hour JOURNEY OUT which begins in April 2021.

Shannon is extremely passionate about the powerful effects yoga has on the brain-body experience.  She is thrilled and honored to be sharing her purpose with the children and families at HOME Power Yoga.
