Acro-Hop Yoga (ages 6-10 years old) 6 week series
Children will explore movement and breath through an energetic combination of acrobatics, hip-hop dance, and yoga poses designed to promote strength and confidence. Each class will begin with a discussion on an age-relevant topic and end with a guided meditation. Breathing exercises and self-regulation skills will be incorporated throughout to help children effectively manage “big” feelings.
Instructor: Samantha Scarpa
Samantha began practicing yoga when looking for an outlet after years of rigorous dance training. Samantha attended the Academy of Performing Arts as a Dance Major and danced pre-professionally for a local dance company. Samantha fell in love with teaching at a young age and taught dance classes to children of various ages at her dance studio. Coming from a competitive dance world, she found yoga to be exactly what her body needed. Samantha became addicted to the physical challenge and mental clarity gained from each class.
Samantha graduated from College of Saint Elizabeth in Morristown, NJ with a BS in Foods and Nutrition. Her background in nutrition led her to further fall in love with the wellness benefits of yoga. Samantha complete her 200-hour RYT training under Heather Sheridan and Julie Gurevich in 2016. She teaches a powerful class that is both physically and mentally challenging.
